4 Movies Every Romanticist Needs to Watch
For true romantics, a movie night in is the ideal way to relax. Whether you snuggle up alone or make it a group affair, movie nights with your favourite actors are perfect for destressing at the end of a long week.
Before you settle in, make sure you have your favourite snacks and drinks at hand. A strong internet connection is a must too, so check out broadband, phone and TV deals to get a bargain. Next, decide on the movie. Here are four that you must watch if you are a true romantic.
The Notebook

Ryan Gosling is a romance film staple, and The Notebook is a classic example of why movie lovers have fallen in love with him.
This film follows the story of a young couple, Noah and Allie, who fall in love in the 1940s. Unfortunately, they are separated by their social classes. The film comprises an elderly man telling this story from a notebook to a patient in a nursing home.
Without giving too much away, The Notebook is a beautiful tale of unrequited love and how love can truly last a lifetime -a heart-warming thought for anyone.
La La Land
The second honourable mention for Ryan Gosling is for his performance in La La Land. Paired with Emma Stone, this musical extravaganza is full of Hollywood glamour set to a backdrop of two struggling performers – bonus points for the incredible accompanying soundtrack.
Mia and Seb’s paths repeatedly cross in this gorgeous film, and not always in a favourable way! As the years progress, viewers watch the pair fall in and out of love, ultimately deciding to go their own ways. Although it doesn’t have a traditional happy ending, it provides a satisfying conclusion to both of their stories, providing a realistic view of love.
Love Actually

With the Christmas period just around the corner, Love Actually is a festive film staple in many households. This movie is great at highlighting that love comes in many different and often unusual forms.
The cast of Love Actually is a star-studded one with the likes of Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley and Hugh Grant all starring in their own, interweaved storylines. Delivering iconic moments such as dancing, the necklace saga and a surprise appearance from Claudia Schiffer, Love Actually is the perfect feel-good holiday romance.
Call Me By Your Name
Set in 1983, Call Me By Your Name made headlines at its release in 2017 for featuring a gay relationship. The film’s lack of gay gimmicks or grand gestures of love hits home with audiences who experience the authentic nature of Elio and Oliver’s relationship.
If you live modern-day coming-out romances, then Call Me By Your Name is for you. Elio falls in love with his father’s assistant, Oliver. The summer progresses their romance, and inevitably comes crashing down as summer ends. You may need a tissue box for the weepy moments, but the love story is a quiet epic.
