Andrew Haigh To Direct Alexander Mcqueen Biopic
On the small screen with HBO’s Looking, along with the delicate nature of his big screen offerings Weekend and last year’s 45 Years (nominated for Outstanding British Film at the BAFTAS), director Andrew Haigh is emerging as an exciting and distinctive British voice.
Now according to Deadline, he is to provide us with an insightful biopic chronicling the remarkable rise and fatal fall of beloved fashion designer Alexander Mcqueen, who tragically committed suicide back in 2010, mere days after the passing of his doting mother.
The film is set to be scripted by playwright Chris Urch, with his latest play The Rolling Stone receiving great acclaim as it deals with the subject of anti-gay laws in Uganda.
Whilst on producer duties, it will be Damien Jones (the forthcoming film version of Dad’s Army) and Pathe, with production likely to begin before the end of 2016.
