Del Toro/Dern Join Star Wars Episode VIII
On a day where it was confirmed principal photography had begun on the latest Star Wars instalment at Pinewood Studios, Episode VIII has inevitably added a couple of notable stars to its galaxy.
Joining the likes of John Boyega’s Finn, Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron this time around, will be Benicio Del Toro (BAFTA nominated this year for his role in Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario) and Laura Dern, who is set to return to the peculiar world of Twin Peaks next year.
The duo are no strangers to broad-appealing franchise fare already, with Del Toro’s enigmatic role as The Collector in Marvel property Guardians Of The Galaxy and Dern’s worthy involvement in Jurassic Park I and III respectively as Dr. Ellie Sattler.
Directed by Rian Johnson (Looper/Brick), Star Wars Episode VIII will debut in cinemas on December 15th 2017.
