Birmingham Anime Film Festival (BAFF) Back For 4th Successive Year This October

Back in Birmingham for a weekend of anime delights for a fourth successive year. BAFF (Birmingham Anime Film Festival) this year will be running from the 9th to 11th October.

Film fans will be able to immerse themselves in a weekend full of some of the greatest and most influential films in anime cinematic history – with content for all ages. Highlights for its 2026 edition include the 1995 version of ‘Ghost in the Shell,‘ regarded as a landmark in anime, Satoshi Kon’s iconic 2006 movie ‘Paprika’; and more modern titles such as 2025’s ‘Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc’ and ‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-‘.

Birmingham Anime Film Festival will take place once again at The Mockingbird Cinema, providing film fans with a unique cinematic experience. It is nestled within the creative hub of Digbeth’s Custard Factory and surrounded by independent food and drink venues, all close to Digbeth Coach Station and Birmingham’s Bullring. 

Soon to be revealed will be custom artwork for the festival by local Birmingham artist Sam Johnson, who you can find on Instagram at samlad_art.

Birmingham Anime Film Festival is organised by the Birmingham-based media collective Geeky Brummie.

Birmingham Anime Festival is a celebration of this critically important and influential genre of cinema, while also doing it in a way that is distinctly Brummie.”
