Cate Blanchett Dedicates BAFTA Win To Phillip Seymour Hoffman
During her acceptance speech for the Best Actress award at last night’s BAFTAs, Cate Blanchett paid tribute to the late actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Blanchett picked up the gong for he role in Blue Jasmine and dedicated it to Hoffman who sadly passed away earlier in the month at the age of 46.
In her speech she said: “Your monumental talent, your generosity and your unflinching quest for the truth both in life and in art, will be missed by so many people. You raised the bar continually so very very high and all we can do in your absence is try to raise it. Phil, buddy, you bastard, this is for you. I hope you’re proud.”
Blanchett starred opposite Hoffman in 1999 movie, The Talented Mr Ripley.
