Claire Dewar: Bringing Heart and Humanity to “The Forgery of a Hoax“
Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Claire Dewar has been performing for as long as she can remember. Her creative journey began in a ballet studio at just three years old, where movement first became her language. By eight, she had already stepped into drama classes, discovering a love for storytelling that would ultimately guide her path across continents.
At eighteen, driven by ambition and an adventurous spirit, Claire moved from Australia to Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time. She trained at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, spending two formative years immersed in intensive study under respected industry professionals. She graduated with her A.O.S. degree and earned a coveted position in the Academy’s prestigious Los Angeles Company for the 2022–2023 season, a testament to both her discipline and undeniable talent.
Since then, Claire has carved out a dynamic career across stage and screen. She has appeared in plays, student films, short films, and feature films, and has also explored the creative side of filmmaking from behind the camera. Known among her peers for her reliability, artistry, and infectious enthusiasm, she has quickly become a trusted collaborator and a magnetic presence in every project she joins.
A New Psychological Mystery: The Forgery of a Hoax
Claire’s latest work brings her back to Australia for the suspense-driven short film The Forgery of a Hoax. The story follows a group of friends enjoying a seemingly ordinary night of laughter and games, until a mysterious package arrives at their door. What’s inside is instantly recognized by everyone present, its chilling familiarity cutting far too close to home.
Claire stars as Myah, a warm, soft-spoken member of the friend group whose kindness grounds the unfolding tension. “Myah is a quiet, kindhearted friend,” Claire explains. “She’s the one everyone instinctively turns to when they need comfort or support. She’s deeply caring, someone who always checks in at just the right moment. Those traits describe me perfectly. Myah and I are very similar.”
To prepare for the role, Claire took a thoughtful, internal approach. “I really focused on understanding what Myah wants, what she feels, and how she responds in different situations. Connecting with her on a personal level helped me bring authenticity to her experience. I also explored her relationships within the group and imagined how both Myah and I would respond emotionally. That process allowed me to create a more genuine portrayal.”

A Homecoming on Set
In a full-circle moment, Claire’s involvement in the film came through a longtime friend. “A friend from high school, who’s now a top videographer in Brisbane, reached out about working on a short film he was shooting. I happened to be in Australia at the time, so I jumped at the chance. It was really fun working with friends from home again and being part of a creative project together.”
Filming took place in Redland Bay, Queensland in Australia, bringing Claire back to the landscapes that shaped her early years.
Where to Watch
The Forgery of a Hoax is currently being submitted to notable festivals, including the Sony Catchlight Festival. The team looks forward to a public release in the near future.
Looking Ahead: Goals, Growth, and What’s Next
As Claire’s career continues to expand, she has set clear and heartfelt goals for 2026. “My goal is to continue growing as an actor by taking on increasingly challenging roles, both in front of and behind the camera. I’m aiming to create performances that resonate, whether they inspire, move, or comfort audiences, using storytelling to make a meaningful impact. Ultimately, I want to build a long-lasting acting career grounded in authenticity, dedication, and continuous learning.”
Her slate for the coming year is already shaping up to be an exciting one. “I’m about to begin filming a horror feature film. I can’t reveal too many details just yet, but it’s slated for release around Halloween 2026, so definitely keep an eye out! Beyond that, I’m working on several other feature films and short film projects, so it’s a really exciting time creatively.”
As Claire continues to expand her artistic reach across continents, one thing remains clear: whether on stage, onscreen, or behind the scenes, she brings an unmistakable sincerity to every role, a quality that makes her a talent to watch.
