Elizabeth Banks Exits Pitch Perfect 3
Instilling their own sass and style to the world of acapella, the Barden Bellas led by Anna Kendrick (Soon to be seen in Ben Affleck’s The Accountant) and Rebel Wilson (How To Be Single) have been the centerpiece of a surprise success in the form of Pitch Perfect, with its first two instalments grossing just over $400 million worldwide in total.
Another crucial figure behind its success has been Elizabeth Banks, who directed the 2015 sequel and has starred as the witty commentator Gail in both films.
With Pitch Perfect 3 now arriving in 22nd December 2017 (shifted from its original July 2017 release) and likely to be considered as counter programming to Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII over the festive period, it has received the setback that Banks will not be returning to helm the threequel.
Despite this news, it won’t be a clean break from the franchise for Banks as she is set to remain on board as producer, with the actress currently up next in Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers reboot as the villainous Rita Repulsa.
