First Trailer For Patti Cake$
Already quite the crowd-pleaser at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Now it’s the film that Film4 have chosen to close their Summer Screen event at Somerset House this August (23rd), topping off this year’s impressive line-up.
Courtesy of Fox Searchlight, the debut trailer has been unveiled today for Patti Cake$, which sees director Geremy Jasper make the step up from music video to the big-screen.
Fighting off cynicism from her mother (Bridget Everett) declaring she doesn’t have a musical bone in her body, we are introduced to Australian actress Danielle Macdonald and her title characters aspirations to be a rapper, in rundown New Jersey.
With the larger-than-life confidence exuded through its central performance and in Jasper’s visual style, particularly as Patti ascends into the green clouds.
Patti Cake$ may just be worthy of taking centre stage when the film is in UK cinemas on 1st September.
