Foul Mouthed ‘Ted’ Proves Too Cuddly To Resist!
Who thought such an offensively spoken bear would be such a draw with cinemagoers?
Take a bow, Family Guy creator Seth Mcfarlane. His first big screen directorial project ‘Ted’ soared to the top of the US box office this weekend with a figure that defied expectactions ($54.1 million). To put this into perspective, the Mark Wahlberg led comedy scored one of the highest original R-rated film debuts ahead of the likes of The Hangover.
Sticking with the mature rating, Channing Tatum lived up to his tag as ‘Magic Mike’, as himself and his on screen pals Alex Pettyfer and Matthew Mcconaughey also upset the odds. Scoring second place and $39.1 million, the male stripper drama marks Steven Soderbergh’s career best debut bettering previous holder Ocean’s Eleven.
Here’s the rundown in full:
1. Ted $54.1 million
2. Magic Mike $39.1 million
3. Brave $34.1 million
4. Tyler Perry’s Madea Witness Protection $26.3 million
5. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted $11.8 million
6. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter $6 million
7. Prometheus $4.9 million
8. Moonrise Kingdom $4.8 million
9. Snow White And The Huntsman $4.4 million
10. People Like Us $4.3 million
