On the surface, the jackass crew may seem like clowns looking for a quick buck, but there is a deeper bond within this brotherhood that has provided warmth and comfort to me and countless others over the past two and a half decades. After the release of jackass forever, it was evident there was one more film left in them, and now here we are. All good things must end, but the heartfelt sentiments of best and last will always resonate.

When Jeff Tremaine and his team created this new film, they aimed to combine unseen old and new stunts. While some remain sceptical, any story must reflect on the past, honour the legacy of jackass and the members lost along the way, and keep the spirit alive for future generations. As the film opens with an over-the-top crew introduction, you feel that sense of homeliness again. You are back with your brothers in arms as they prepare to take their final bow and reflect on their impact on popular culture and fans. Within those 92 minutes of chaos and love, there is closure and celebration. Let’s be honest, if you pitched something like jackass now, it would never get made.

This reflection on the past flows through the film’s core, while the new stunts are wild, showcasing a blend of new and returning cast members. One moment you might laugh uncontrollably, and the next you could feel nauseated. This formula has worked for 25 years, and the stunts and skits still feel fresh. The experience never feels repetitive or dull; you can sense every reaction in the cinema alongside the audience. Every gasp, laugh, squint, and sympathetic cramp adds to the shared experience we all have watching jackass: best and last. The footage needs to be experienced firsthand, so viewers should avoid spoilers. Watching a new jackass film is a unique experience that should remain private between the audience and the screen.
