Jamie Foxx to ‘Electrify’ Spidey Sequel?
It seems that Marc Webb’s plans for the sequel to this summer’s reboot ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ are running smoothly. It was recently confirmed that Andrew Garfield will indeed return as the webslinger after an impressive debut, with the addition of Shailene Woodley’s likely inclusion as Mary Jane Watson potentially setting up an intriguing love triangle with Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.
Shifting his attention to the more villainous side, we of course witnessed the long awaited introduction of the Lizard played by Rhys Ifans in the first installment. Clearly eager to be continuing in such a vein of dissecting new big screen adversaries for Spidey, it’s been confirmed by Variety that Jamie Foxx is in early talks to join the project.
The role in question to be Electro, the Django Unchained star has already teased the fanboys by tweeting during the week:
‘Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night.. costume fits well.’
At least confirming the villain, director Webb has also declared why he wanted to include the character stating (via Collider):
‘I think Electro is an incredibly visual, exciting, dangerous villain. There is alot of appealing stuff that is going to happen as the world emerges.’
MM faithful.. Happy for the sequel to establish the character’s arc? Or would you prefer another villain to run rampant?
