John Boyega Confirmed For Pacific Rim 2
For all the nostalgia of seeing Harrison Ford’s wisecracking Han Solo, the glorious locks of Chewbacca and the spinetingling reveal of Luke Skywalker, John Boyega made a grand impression in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as newcomer Finn.
Just when you thought wielding lightsabers and fighting off stormtroopers was enough for the Attack The Block star, he is now set to be a crucial component in the ongoing battle between the Kaiju and Jaegers, as he has been confirmed to star in Pacific Rim 2.
Boyega’s role will involve being the son to Idris Elba’s (this year’s The Jungle Book) commanding officer, the wonderfully titled Stacker Pentecost. The actor’s involvement is also set to stretch beyond being in front of the camera, as he clarified on his personal Twitter account that his production company UpperRoom Productions will be co-producing the film alongside Legendary.

The well-received 2013 original which starred Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam and Warcraft’s Rob Kazinsky grossed just over $100 million in the US alone and was directed by Pans Labyrinth and Hellboy’s Guillermo Del Toro, who has fought fiercely to get this sequel off the ground.
Pacific Rim 2 will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight.
