Makeup & Hairstyling Shortlist Revealed
A short while ago the Academy announced the seven films eligible for nomination in the Makeup & Hairstyling category. Though there are a couple of the bigger films of the year here (American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club), categories like these often provide an opportuity for those films that tend to go unnoticed for the major awards.
This is also a category which, perhaps more so than Best Picture, loves a good period drama, and this year is no exception. Of the seven shortlisted, inly Bad Grandpa is set in present day America. Most people will surely be rooting for the latest Jackass film, if it wins a nomination, but arguably stronger candidates include Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Great Gatsby.
There is an inexplicable snubbing of The Desolation of Smaug, which would appear to be odds on for consideration in these categories, but Academy voters move in mysterious ways.
