Nyong’o and Christie Latest ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Additions!

It was only a few weeks ago, where J.J Abrams dropped various casting ‘bombshells’ upon the devoted ‘Star Wars’ fan-base as production on ‘Episode VII’ gets underway. Oscar Isaac from ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ and ‘Drive’. Max Von Sydow of ‘Minority Report’ and Shutter Island. Franchise ‘king’ (?) Andy Serkis of ‘Lord Of The Rings’ and ‘King Kong’ fame.
Underneath all the excitement, there was an underlying issue with its male-centric announcement and the distinct lack of top female talent involved. Well, the Force has shifted back somewhat today with the confirmation that Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie have joined the cast.
Following in the footsteps of Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher, Nyong’o’s name had been heavily mentioned from very early on, completing a meteoric rise which saw her win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her heart-wrenching performance in Steve Mcqueen’s ’12 Years A Slave’.
As for Christie who plays the feisty Brienne of Tarth in the critically acclaimed TV phenomenon ‘Game Of Thrones’, this will be her biggest cinematic role to date whilst being the second high-profile franchise she has joined in quick succession, as she will be gracing the next instalment of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’.
A date I’m sure many have marked in the calendar. ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ hits cinemas on December 18th 2015!
