Paramount announce schedule shake-up!
Following 2012’s winter success in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Paramount Studios is following suit with another Tom Cruise vehicle, the adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher thriller One Shot, being moved to the same 21st December release date. The film was previously slated for a February 2013 release.
As a result, the upcoming Brad Pitt zombie-epic World War Z has been pushed back to June 21st 2013. The film previously occupied the December slot now owned by One Shot.
The third domino to fall from these events is the news of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles revival in the works. Due to hit cinemas on Christmas Day 2013, the CGI/live-action combo will be spearheaded by South-African director Jonathan Liebesman with everyone’s favourite action aficionado Michael Bay on board as producer. Paramount’s subsidiary Nickelodeon studio will helm the feature.
Following Ghost Protocol’s smash box-office success, raking in over $680 million, it comes as no surprise Paramount are aiming for another big haul here. The film firmly re-established Cruise’s star status and another windfall seems certain.
