Pirates of the Caribbean 5 – First Look Trailer

Well, here we are, our first look at Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. And, it’s quite brief, very dark and moody, with a substantial lack of Captain Jack Sparrow.

What we do get however is our first glimpse at the villain of the piece, Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem. He’s apparently an old acquaintance of Sparrow’s and here’s clearly out for blood. His crew of ghost pirates harkens back to the skeletal crew from The Curse of The Black Pearl (The best Pirates film and there’s no argument to be had about that!) but they are definitely more sinister, suggesting this might not be a very child friendly adventure.

Very little is known about the plot of Dead Men Tell No Tales but the film has had a long and troubled production history, it would be nice if it could recapture some of the old magic that eluded the darker and more bombastic sequels, but there’s no indication of that from this early teaser.

Johnny Depp stars as Jack Sparrow, along with newcomers Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Javier Bardem and the returning Orlando Bloom as Will Turner.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released Summer 2017.
