Rule Change: Animated Features
Earlier the Academy announced a small change to the rules for the Animated feature category. There will now be maximum of two award recipients – a credited producer and the director or a member of the key creative personnel. In the event that there are two credited directors there may be three recipients but this, as always, is at the discretion of the board of governors. These folk settle all disputes and authorize any exceptions to the rules.
The rules for the 2014 Academy Awards have now been settled, and as the months roll on we’ll look at them in more detail. Very rarely are there major changes in the rules, and this year is no different. The date for the next ceremony is Sunday March 2nd. This is later than usual, as the awards have typically been held in late February for the past 10 years or so. But, as per usual, the Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre (formerly the Hollywood & Highland Centre formerly the Kodak Theatre).
