Samuel L Jackson: “I’m Not Laurence Fishburne!”
A broadcaster in Los Angeles was left red-faced after confusing Samuel L Jackson with Matrix star Laurence Fishburne in an interview.
Jackson was asked about his role in the new RoboCop film and the interviewer, Sam Rubin, also asked him how he reacted to his Super Bowel advert. When Jackson, 65, replied: “What Super Bowl commercial?” – Rubin realised his mistake.
Jackson, speaking via satellite from Atlanta continued: “See, you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter – I’m not Laurence Fishburne!”
Fishburne starred in a commercial for Kia cars during the huge Super Bowl event.
“We don’t all look alike. We may all be black and famous but we don’t all look alike,” Jackson added.
He then continued further to list other black actors and the products that they promote before discussing why Jackson wanted to join the RoboCop cast but Rubin struggled to get the interview back on track.
Rubin apologised on air to viewers and to Samuel L Jackson and “anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake.”
