Stunning Debut Trailer For God’s Own Country
The directorial debut from Francis Lee has certainly been on our radar for some time now. Receiving various acclaim at the likes of Sundance and Berlin earlier this year, God’s Own Country is all set to kick off Edinburgh International Film Festival later this week.
Ahead of opening night, Picturehouse have released a mesmerising first trailer as we get a proper tease of the relationship that develops between Josh O’Connor’s frustrated farmer Johnny and migrant worker Gheorghe, played by Alec Secareanu.
With a soaring score and its rapturous Yorkshire scenery underpinning its romance, the film is shaping up to be another stellar entry in what has been a great year already for queer cinema.
God’s Own Country is released across the UK on 1st September.
‘Spring. Yorkshire. Isolated young sheep farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker Gheorghe, employed for the lambing season, ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path.’
