Winners: 2017 DGA Awards

The Directors Guild of America always provides a decent set of parameters to base Oscar predictions, and following La La Land‘s success with the producers guild, Chazelle’s win here all but cements it as the runaway favourite.

Where the SAGs disrupted expectations slightly, the DGA have reaffirmed our suspicions as Ezra Edelman also won for the best documentary feature, for his work on O.J.: Made in America.

The biggest surprise was no Scorsese. Instead Garth Davis received his first nomination for Lion. The other nominees were expected – Chazelle, Jenkins and Lonergan among them.
